Valerie Hannah

Director and Audit Chair, Generate Capital; Former Managing Director, Brookfield Asset Management

Valerie Hannah is a board director and retired managing director of Brookfield Asset Management. She joined its renewable power group at inception in 2011 and has spent 15 years in senior leadership, scaling it more than tenfold to $137 billion under management.

Across multiple platforms and companies, she has served in leadership roles including CEO, CFO, COO, and SVP of business acquisitions. Hannah led the turnaround of TerraForm Power, tripling the distressed public company’s market capitalization between Brookfield’s 2017 acquisition and its 2020 take-private. She also launched Brookfield’s distributed energy platform, building it into the largest in the US and establishing it as a new asset class for the firm.

Hannah chairs the finance and audit committee of Generate Capital, PBC, and has served on numerous portfolio company and joint venture boards. A Canadian CPA, she holds degrees from Concordia and McGill Universities. Trading spreadsheets for storylines, she now writes full time.
