Katie LaVoy is a partner at Sidley, where she advises companies on matters of corporate governance, SEC disclosure, executive compensation, and risk management. Her practice includes board and committee governance, leadership and policies, composition and structure, best practices and fiduciary duties, board evaluations, shareholder engagement, executive and director compensation, and disclosure and compliance with corporate and securities laws, regulations, and listing rules.
Prior to joining Sidley, she served as senior vice president, chief legal officer, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary of a publicly traded maritime company and as chief legal officer and corporate secretary of an international electric vehicle manufacturer.
LaVoy holds an executive MBA and JD from Northwestern University and an undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a frequent speaker on risk, compliance, international law, and finance for lawyers.
