John Mathewson

John Mathewson advises boards, leadership teams, and investors on the structural economics reshaping American health care as the third-largest economy in the world. A former COO of America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), he has operated across health plans, hospitals, home care, and behavioral health for three decades. His thesis: US health care's current $5.3 trillion economy is facing a $14.4 trillion funding gap by 2034, representing a material fiduciary concern for every board in America.  

He has served on 12 boards including as board president and interim CEO during a leadership transition, with committee experience spanning audit, compensation, finance, and technology. He has overseen more than $1 billion in profit and loss and $230 million in foundation and pension assets. He serves on the advisory board of The Hilltop Institute at UMBC and is an NACD member.
