Erik Roth is global head of applied innovation at BlackRock, a new role responsible for how the firm identifies, adopts, and applies transformative technology.

Previously, he was a senior partner at McKinsey where he led  its strategy practice in the Americas and directed global innovation. He was one of McKinsey’s foremost experts on innovation-related topics, including strategy, new-product development, business-model creation, open innovation, culture change, and R&D management.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Roth was part of the team that created OnStar, the in-vehicle security and communication system. He was also chief innovation officer at LG where, among other successfully commercialized digital experiences, he led the effort to design LG's award-winning Smart TV interface.
