About The Event
The NACD Heartland Chapter recently hosted an engaging breakfast fireside chat with Todd R. Schnuck, who shared his insights on leading a fourth-generation family enterprise in today’s dynamic business environment. In conversation with Peter Boumgarden and Eric Czepyha, the discussion highlighted how Schnucks’ nearly 90-year history of family leadership has shaped decision-making, supported long-term investment, and positioned the company for continued growth.
Attendees gained valuable perspectives on balancing strategic expansion, including acquisitions, with the preservation of culture, values, and stewardship that define enduring family enterprises. The session offered practical insights on governance, leadership continuity, and scaling a family-owned business across generations, providing board members and executives with actionable lessons for overseeing growth while maintaining organizational identity.
This thoughtful conversation underscored the importance of governance in family enterprises and offered a real-world look at how legacy, culture, and strategic vision intersect to guide long-term success.
