“No two boards are the same,” Peter C. Browning likes to say. His constant reminder to directors stems from his experience serving on 14 publicly traded company boards and a corporate career that spanned decades. A Boston native, he began his career as a sales trainee with the Continental Can Co. He spent 24 years with the company, eventually becoming president of two different divisions. He last served as the executive vice president and operating officer. In 1989, Browning joined the National Gypsum Co. In September 1990, he was elected chair, president, and CEO. He helped guide the business through and out of bankruptcy. He now serves on the boards of Gypsum Management & Supply and ScanSource, and his prior directorships include service at Acuity Brands, EnPro Industries, Wachovia Corp., Nucor Corp., and many more companies...
