Over the decades, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) has vacillated from facing severe resistance and backlash to garnering mainstream buy-in to confronting extreme attempts to dismantle DE&I gains. Organizations and their leaders have had to stay resilient through these pendulum swings, evolving and adapting their work to stay relevant to external circumstances and stakeholder needs.
