Williams serves on the boards of E.W. Scripps—as chair of the board, chair of the audit committee, and as a member of the governance and nominating committee—and Weyerhaeuser, where she is a member of the audit committee and a member of the governance and nominating committee.

Previously, she served as lead director of Xcel Energy and as chair of the finance committee, a member of the audit committee, and the governance, compensation, and nominating committees.

Until her retirement, she was a partner at Wellington Management Co. LLP, where she developed her career as a fundamental industry analyst in the investment management industry. Previously, she held leadership positions at Loomis, Sayles & Co. and the Imperial Chemical Industries pension fund.

Williams is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), Women Corporate Directors, and the CFA Institute. She also is designated as an associate of the Society of Investment Professionals (UK).
