Paula Ann Miller

Paula Ann Miller began her career at Coopers & Lybrand, currently PwC, and has accumulated thirty years of experience in financial consulting for law firms, private businesses, and Fortune 500 companies. She founded P.A. Miller Consulting Inc. in 1995 and continues to serve as president with offices in Houston and New York City. She has served as a member of several boards and currently serves on the regional board of directors for American Bank. She served on the advisory board of directors for BBVA USA where she continued to serve through BBVA USA’s acquisition by PNC Financial Services.

Miller is a strong business leader with deep knowledge of finance, forensic accounting, audit, due diligence, governance and compliance, strategic planning, cybersecurity, restructuring, and valuation. The breadth and depth of her experience across a range of industries, as well as with both for-profit and nonprofit entities, provides her with a comprehensive understanding of most critical issues routinely addressed by a board of directors.

Miller has performed due diligence for acquisitions with transaction value exceeding $10 billion. She has developed internal policies, procedures, and guidelines for Fortune 500 companies; worked with the Department of Justice and US Securities and Exchange Commission on Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) claims; and managed assets for an LLC controlled by a global investment firm. She continues to provide expert testimony for many types of litigation, including testimony involving accounting reconstruction, forensic accounting, lost profit analysis, financial modeling, forensic investigations and audits, FCPA claims, due diligence, valuation, contract compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and claims preparation and review.

Miller graduated from the Owner/President Management program at Harvard Business School. Prior to attending the Harvard Business School, Miller graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a master of business administration in finance and a master of science in accounting and tax. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Houston, earning a bachelor of science in pre-law and criminal justice.

Miller is a member of NACD and completed the Corporate Director Certificate program at Harvard Business School and the Director’ Consortium at Stanford Graduate School of Business. She earned a certificate in business valuations and cybersecurity from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is an associate member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and a Compliance & Ethics Professional member.

Miller is a native Houstonian with a passion for serving her community and Texas. She served on the board of directors for the State of Texas as an appointee of Gov. Rick Perry, continuing to serve under the leadership of Gov. Greg Abbott. During her term on the board, she served on the executive committee, chaired the budget committee, was a member of the compensation committee, served as acting board secretary, and was selected as a mediation delegate for the State of Texas.

As an active alumna , Miller was elected to the board of directors for the Harvard Business School Club of Houston, was president of The Woodlands Chapter of the HBS Club, and served on the board of directors for the Harvard University Club of Houston. She served on the board of trustees for the Houston Ballet, board of directors and audit and finance committees for the Alley Theatre, and board of directors for Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts. Miller currently serves on the board of directors, its governance and audit committees, and as treasurer for the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston.

Miller was named one of Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women by Houston Woman Magazine for her leadership in business and the community. She remains active and engaged in the performing arts and her church community.
