Paul Connelly, NACD.DC

Professor of Practice for Cybersecurity, Belmont University; Independent Director, Fortified Health Security

Paul has more than four decades in senior leadership of cybersecurity and technology strategy and governance at a Fortune 100 company, a big four public accounting firm, and the White House. He currently focuses on teaching cybersecurity at Belmont University and board of directors service.

After starting his career at the National Security Agency, Paul built the first cybersecurity program at the White House, serving under three Presidents. He then developed a cybersecurity audit and consulting practice and became a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, and then built the first information security program at HCA Healthcare - leading it for more than twenty years as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). 

Paul is currently an independent director on the boards of Fortified Health Security and Dismas Inc., and a member of the advisory board for the Nashville Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors.

Throughout his career, Paul has been a developer of leaders, with forty members of his teams selected for CISO positions. He is also a frequent writer and speaker on technology, cybersecurity, and AI governance.
