What are some developing issues your business thinks board directors should be prepared for?

  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion—which, I believe, should also include neurodiversity to help our understanding of how the human brain makes breakthroughs.
  • AI with a particular focus on understanding how a symbiotic relationship between human beings and AI systems can be a force for good.

What are your top three tips for directors to ensure they are well-prepared for tomorrow’s challenges?

  • Listen to as many diverse audiobooks (from biographies to business books to fictional books) as possible and devour podcasts; we have the immense luck of being able to converse with Nobel Prize winners, innovators, and storytellers at our fingertips.
  • Talk to your children and grandchildren to understand how the world is evolving from the perspective of people who have different cognitive biases.
  • Inspire yourself using history lessons and historical events to analyze the future. History has proven to repeat itself time and time again.

What are three ways your business can provide value for board directors?

  • Provide a platform where all the board information (meeting packs, key documents, and board members’ discussions) is in one place, rather than scattered across various channels (email, Slack, Microsoft PowerPoint, hard copy, etc.) and hard to find.
  • Leverage AI’s ability to interrogate vast amounts of disparate data to unlock key insights and answers.
  •  Connect each board member with a board agent to break down the knowledge gap and reduce onboarding time for a new board member, in turn eliminating critical barriers to implementing a diverse board.

What’s your favorite business-related podcast or book?

Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell

What’s your favorite way to foster meaningful connections with others?

A nice meal around a beautiful bottle of wine (preferably from Napa or Bordeaux).

What does your ideal day look like when you’re not working?

Going for a leisurely hike in the mountains of Majorca.
