New York Chapter

Dear NACD members,

On behalf of the NACD NY board, I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing summer.

Our spring programming wrapped up with a great session with Kenneth Chenault, and we have been busy preparing a fantastic fall programming lineup for you.  We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.

Whether seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills, build meaningful relationships, or tapping into the resources and connections they need to succeed, members of the NACD New York Chapter have access to the best speakers and content, backed by NACD education and certification, and a network of peers that provides meaningful connections and insights. The NACD New York Chapter is the premier resource for directors seeking to transform their boards and become future ready.

Our next program will take place at the Harvard Club on September 24:  Navigating Geopolitical Risks – 2024 and Beyond.  Moderated by Clea Connor, our panel will include Eric Cantor, Priya Dayananda, and Michelle Caruso-Cabrera who will share their insights on the implications of international conflicts, trade policies, political instability, upcoming elections and more.

Also, be sure to mark your calendars for November 13 for an event dedicated to the 2024 NACD Blue Ribbon Commission Report on Technology and Governance which will launch in the coming weeks.  As always, please check your email and/or our website to register for our events and be among the first to learn when additional speakers are added.

Sponsors:
Our sponsors make possible NACD NY’s programming and networking opportunities, and also provide our members with access to world-class thought leadership and invitation-only peer to peer events.  Earlier this year, we were delighted to welcome BitSight to our NACD NY sponsor family.

So far in 2024, our sponsors have also hosted peer to peer events on a number of topics:

  • StoneTurn: Geopolitical Risks and the Board
  •  Joele Frank: Navigating the New Era of Human Capital Challenges and Evolving Governance Trends
  • KPMG: Political Landscape 2024: Associated Risks and Business Impact

We have several more sponsor-led peer-to-peer events planned for this fall.

Membership:
NACD NY is the largest chapter in the NACD network, and we are delighted to have welcomed 306 new members so far in 2024, including 3 new full board members to the nearly 100 full boards which are part of our chapter:  Data Storage Corporation, Agilon Health Inc., and Bark Inc.  Our LinkedIn followers have also grown to over 1,150 members since January.  We encourage everyone to follow our chapter on LinkedIn as we actively share updates from across our membership and our sponsors.

You will also notice that NACD has delivered a major upgrade to our NACD NY chapter website as part of their digital transformation strategy.  There is a lot happening across our online channels!

NACD NY Member News:
We are proud to share news from our NACD NY members:  our very own NACD NY board director Sheila Stamps was named as one of 2024’s 100 Black Board Members Making a Difference by Board Prospects.  Please be sure to share updates from across your network with us so that we may celebrate the success of our NACD NY members with our full network.  We also encourage you to like, share and comment on our LinkedIn posts as well as tag NACD NY in your own posts.

NACD Summit 2024:
The NACD National Summit from October 6-9, 2024, is quickly approaching.  Several of our NACD NY board directors and members will be at the event and we will be in touch with our members registered to attend with special opportunities to network with our chapter.

Onward:
As always, we welcome your thoughts on and suggestions for our chapter.  Please share your thoughts by responding to this email or contacting our team via Jenna Ayala, our Executive Director: jenna@newyork.nacdonline.org

We also encourage you to keep your NACD profile up to date through the My Account section at nacdonline.org, as this information is used to curate invitations to peer-to-peer events.

We look forward to seeing you this fall.
