Lorin Crenshaw

Lorin has nearly 30 years of global finance, capital markets, and strategic leadership experience, including serving as CFO of three publicly listed companies. He is currently CFO of Avalon Advanced Materials Inc. (TSX: AVL), a Toronto-based critical minerals company advancing rare earth and lithium assets, and previously served as CFO of Compass Minerals International (NYSE: CMP) and Orion S.A. (NYSE: OEC), both global, asset-intensive industrial companies operating across multiple geographies.
Earlier in his career, Lorin spent a decade on Wall Street as an equity research analyst and commercial lender, building deep expertise in capital markets, valuation, and investor behavior. Across his executive roles, he has led all core finance and risk functions—including accounting, audit, treasury, FP&A, investor relations, IT, and enterprise risk management—and has been a close strategic partner to CEOs and leadership teams on growth strategy, capital allocation, M&A, and long-term value creation.
Lorin has led high-performance teams across five continents and developed broad corporate finance, operational finance, and investor-relations expertise through senior roles at leading organizations including Albemarle Corporation (NYSE: ALB), Rohm and Haas, Citigroup (NYSE: C), and Prudential Capital Group (NYSE: PRU).
His board experience includes service on the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Herc Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: HRI), where he provided oversight of governance, financial reporting, capital structure, and risk management. As an executive, he has extensive experience engaging with boards and board committees on strategy, performance, major capital projects, financing, acquisitions, investor relations, and enterprise risk. In each of his CFO roles, Lorin has served as the primary executive lead to the Audit Committee and a regular participant in Governance, Compensation, and EHS committee discussions.
Throughout his career, Lorin has established himself as a trusted advisor to CEOs, leadership teams, and boards, with a strong track record in accessing debt capital markets, structuring complex financings, managing risk, and stewarding stakeholder relationships with banks, rating agencies, and institutional investors.
Outside the boardroom, Lorin is a recreational trumpeter (jazz and classical) and is deeply committed to financial literacy education for high-school students, serving as a coach to three-time national championship-winning teams. He also enjoys fishing and golf.
Lorin holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BS in Business Administration from Florida A&M University.
