The Role
The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, operations, and growth of the NACD Florida Chapter. This is a highly visible role that blends strategic execution, board partnership, program leadership, and sponsor engagement.
The Executive Director does more than manage operations. This leader helps create the environment in which directors sharpen judgment, exchange perspective, and elevate their governance practices. By strengthening the chapter, the Executive Director strengthens the boardrooms that influence Florida’s economic and civic future.
This role is part-time (25–30 hours per week) and will be supported by a part-time Chapter Administrator and contract resources (e.g., bookkeeping, design work) as needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Board of Directors Support
- Serve as the primary staff partner to the Chapter Board of Directors and Committee Chairs
- Attend all board meetings and work with BOD Chairs to prepare agendas, materials, minutes, and action follow-up using the board portal platform OnBoard
- Recommend annual Chapter goals, for which board has ultimate approval, and communicate progress to the board
- Support the board in developing and monitoring the strategic plan and any chapter initiatives
- Support the Committee Chairs (Nominating and Governance, Programming, Sponsorship, Membership) on committee activities as needed, including setting goals, scheduling meetings, attending meetings, etc.
- Collaborate with the Board Chair and Nom/Gov Chair to maintain chapter governance documents.
- Onboard all new board members, chapter leaders and sponsors.
• Finance and Administration
- Oversee all administrative operations of the Chapter including personnel, contractors and interns. Train new staff on systems and processes.
- Coordinate with the Treasurer to prepare annual chapter operating budget and get board approval.
- Monitor all expenses and control program costs and submit quarterly financials to NACD National
- Oversee/deliver all Chapter communications including the website, LinkedIn, on-site signage, email, sponsorship package, board books, etc., ensuring consistency with NACD brand standards
• Programming
- Maintain annual program and BOD calendar in collaboration with Committee Chairs. Work with Chapter administrator and National Chapter network team to produce program reports including metrics for Chapter goals.
- Working with the Chapter Administrator, plan and deliver chapter programs and events working with Programming Chair and event board leads. Prepare opening and closing remarks. For virtual/hybrid programs, set up and run Zoom/Teams meetings including breakout groups.
- Responsible for all pre- and post-program/event management oversight, including registration, vendor management, logistics, venue selection, speaker communication, contract negotiation, surveys, food & beverage and A/V needs.
• Sponsorship
- Collaborate with Sponsorship Chairs and BOD to develop a high-functioning and sustainable sponsorship/partnership program.
- Develop sponsorship package, schedule sponsorship meetings and collaborate with sponsors on program delivery.
- Responsible for billing the sponsors, follow-up, and collection of payments
- Ensure chapter delivers contractual sponsorship benefits
• Liaison with National NACD
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Chapter and the Regional Director/NACD National, ensuring national and chapter alignment
- Facilitates connections to National office resources (Chapter network team, member engagement, board advisory services, IT, etc.)
- Work with National and the Regional Director to submit referral forms
• Membership Engagement
- Being a point of contact for new members as it relates to the chapter and our events
- Maintain updated lists of corporate and individual members, by region
- Welcome new members and ensure they receive our communications
• Performs other duties as assigned
Experience Required
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5+ years of leadership experience in an association, nonprofit, or membership-based organization
• Experience working with and communicating to boards and senior executives
• Experience delivering high quality virtual meetings and live events for up to 200 people at contracted venues, including food/beverage, A/V
• Strong organizational, communication, and project-management skills
• Financial literacy and experience with developing/managing budgets and financial reporting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, LinkedIn, Zoom, Teams, collaboration tools (e.g., Slack) and AI a must. Knowledge of OnBoard or other board platform software a plus.

Other Requirements
Ability to travel annually to Washington, DC and to on-site events throughout Florida.
