Larraine Segil is a seasoned entrepreneurial executive and an experienced public and private corporate board director with general management experience. She is founder, chair, and CEO of the nonprofit public charity, The Exceptional Women Alliance Foundation, a proprietary, metrics-driven, software-based, executive coaching and mentoring collaborative that enables high-potential women to reach C-level positions in more than 30 different industries.
Ms. Segil was formerly an owner and director of Vantage Partners, which evolved out of the Harvard Negotiation Project. Its partners and directors have authored many books, including Getting to Yes and Difficult Conversations. Ms. Segil has helped Global 100 and Fortune 500 companies create and manage their critical business relationships with suppliers, customers, alliances, joint ventures, or channel partners.
She is former CEO and cofounder of several entrepreneurial companies, including Advanced Materials, a privately held company providing products and services to aerospace and electronics manufacturers worldwide, as well as Airport Urgent Care, a privately held chain providing freestanding ambulatory health-care clinics at airports in the southwestern region of the United States.
Ms. Segil also served on the Tropical Diseases Special Advisory Group on Alliances in Kuwait and Geneva for UNICEF, the United Nations Development Programme, World Bank, and the World Health Organization from 2009 to 2012. She taught a two-day program, Global Alliances for Executive Education, for more than 24 years at the California Institute of Technology.
Ms. Segil is a licensed attorney admitted to practice in the state of California and the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Segil also served on the Fast Company Impact Council and the NACD Pacific Southwest Chapter as chair of nominating and governance. She has been on the international advisory board for APCO Worldwide since 2009; she is a member of the board at Pepperdine University, Graziadio School of Business, and board emerita at the University of California, Los Angeles, Anderson School of Business.
She served on the board of Frontier Communications (Nasdaq: FTR) from 2005 to 2017 on the audit, nominating and governance, compensation, and retirement committees. She served as chair of the board at Kandela Inc. until the company was sold in April 2019. She served on the board of Vanir Construction Management's audit and nominating committees until April 2018, as chair of the nominating and governance and compensation committees at Calprivate Bank, as vice chair of Alliance Strategies, a global company, and as a member of the board of trustees for Southwestern School of Law from 2008 to 2019. Ms. Segil is the past chair of the Committee of 200 Foundation and the vice chair of its governing board.
Ms. Segil is an accomplished author, keynote speaker, and expert in the area of strategic alliances and leadership. She has written five business books: Measuring the Value of Partnering; Partnering: The New Face of Leadership; Intelligent Business Alliances: How to Profit Using Today's Most Important Strategic Tool; Dynamic Leader Adaptive Organization: Ten Essential Traits for Managers; and Fast Alliances: Power Your E-Business. She has also written a novel, Belonging.
