Jocelyn Carter-Miller is a seasoned public company director and strategic advisor with deep expertise in governance, executive compensation, go-to-market strategy, and value creation in technology-enabled, diversified financial services and consumer-facing businesses.
She currently serves on the boards of Principal Financial Group, Inc., Arlo Technologies, Inc., and Backblaze, Inc., where she is Lead Director. Across these roles, she chairs or serves on Human Resources, Compensation, Audit, and Nominating & Governance Committees, providing oversight on CEO succession, executive pay alignment, financial discipline, and long-term strategy. She also serves on the non-profit boards of NACD National (Chapters Committee Chair) and the Broward Black Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
Ms. Carter-Miller brings a strong operator’s perspective to the boardroom—with prior experience as Chief Marketing Officer of Office Depot, Inc. and Motorola, Inc., and Latin America and EMEA General Manager—where she led global marketing, operating and growth initiatives across multi-billion-dollar, complex enterprises. Earlier in her career, she held senior leadership roles at Mattel, Inc., contributing to record growth in Barbie, the company’s largest global brand.
As President of TechEdVentures and SoulTranSync, and founder of her advisory firm, she works with companies on growth strategy, market positioning, and IPO readiness. Her expertise spans customer acquisition and retention, brand strategy, performance marketing, and data-driven decision-making—capabilities that support scalable growth and enhanced shareholder value.
Ms. Carter-Miller holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Illinois and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago, and is a Certified Public Accountant (unlicensed). She is a NACD Directorship 100 Honoree and has been recognized by Savoy, Directors & Boards, Women, Inc., and Board Prospects among the most influential corporate directors.
