If you could give yourself advice on your first day as a board member, what would it be?
Be prepared based on the agenda, participate, and be open to learn from the chair and fellow board members.
What's the most memorable trip you've ever taken?
My trip to Australia; We landed in Brisbane, rented a car and drove from Brisbane, QLD to Melbourne, Vic through Sydney, NSW and Canberra on a 21 day trip with my wife and 2 children. It was great fun learning more about Australia, though I lived in Australia from 1992 to 1995.
From your perspective, what are some key traits that the most effective board members possess?
Being curious to learn more, contribute to the agenda, participate in deliberations and influence positively.
If you could instantly become an expert in any skill or subject, what would it be?
Decarbonization and Digitalization.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Be curious and continuously learn.
What's the most interesting or unusual job you've ever had?
I started as a handy man for a band in my home state and ended up being a base guitarist.
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?
James Madison, the Father of the US Constitution. I would like to listen to his entire experience that resulted in such a robust constitution of the United States that stands the test of time over and over.
What's your favorite way to relax and unwind?
I like to learn and code software. Now that it has been made even easier using ChatGPT, I would like to pick a hypothetical problem and try to resolve through an app or software. Getting time to do this is the problem.
