Kristy Clement currently serves as the chairperson of Afognak Native Corporation, a more than $600 million private corporation headquartered in Alaska. During her tenure as chair, she has led the Board through a transition in its governance model and policy structure, implementation of long-term strategic planning practices, and initiatives to build the board's capabilities and standardize its practice. Clement previously served as the chairman of the Compensation Committee and secretary. She also serves as the chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Afognak Shareholder Settlement Trust, a large philanthropic trust that oversees management of a $100 million investment portfolio. Clement's professional experience spans large nonprofit entities, private small business, and midsized enterprises, much of which has been in the healthcare industry. She worked in the public healthcare system for many years as a health systems administrator with Southcentral Foundation in Anchorage, Alaska. In this role, she managed an outpatient pediatric clinic and led numerous corporate-wide projects to provide quality healthcare to the Alaska community. Clement also served as CEO at Avante Medical Center, a private primary care clinic, prior to relocating to Washington. In addition, she led the successful startup of a nonprofit, early childhood education program. The program was successfully awarded federal and state grants to provide early childhood education, health services, and social services to more than 200 children and their families.
